HARRY Crawley admitted to feeling ecstatic after storming to his third victory from five starts in the hotly-contested Formula Kart Stars (FKS) Championship at PF International.

His latest triumph means the Dartford star becomes the most successful driver of the year in terms of race wins and also helped close the gap on the championship leader Jack Barlow into the bargain.

The reason there was a gap to close at all was Crawley had agonisingly suffered a clutch failure on the rolling-up lap on the way around to the grid for the grand final in the previous race in Cumbria.

It was a cruel blow, and one which left him with vital ground to make up and fired-up to prove a point and get his bid for glory firmly back on-track, something he managed at PF with interest.

Following his victory, Crawley said: “When I crossed the finish line, I was ecstatic.

“I can’t describe it really – it was just brilliant.

“We managed to get a sack full of points and the win, so I certainly left the track on a high.”

The outcome also enabled the Wilmington Grammar pupil to reduce Barlow’s advantage atop the drivers’ standings from 26 points down to just 14.

One of only two out of the 173 drivers in the Lewis Hamilton and Bernie Ecclestone-backed series to have triumphed in three out of five grand finals to date, Crawley is now statistically the equal-most successful driver in the championship.

He added: “I’m really pleased with what I’ve achieved this year so far.

“Now I’ve just got to keep consistently racking up the points and podiums to keep the pressure on Jack and work towards my main goal of winning the championship. I’m feeling confident.”
