A BOWLING team from West Wickham will represent Kent in the Bowls England national championships in Worthing next month.
Ron Williams, Gary Brock and Steve Savage make up the triples team of Metropolitan Police BC in West Wickham and secured their places in Worthing yesterday at Canterbury.
Williams will be 86 on Tuesday and could well turn out to be one of the oldest competitors in action at the national championships.
In yesterday’s semi-final, he was pitched against 18-year-old Chris Fox of St Lawrence BC but still managed to help his team win through.
This goes to show age is no barrier in sport and young and old can still compete against each other at the highest level.
