Cambridge Harriers record entry at this year’s English Schools Championships resulted in a full set of medals and two club records.
David Bolarinwa won gold in the Under 17 Boys 100m and still has another year in the age group. Running into a slight head wind he finally beat 10.9 seconds with a winning time of 10.88 which is a new club record. David now goes on to represent England at a Schools International in Northern Ireland next weekend.
Curtis Griffith Parker added to his long list of victories at this event with gold in the senior boys Discus. Unfortunately competing outside the main arena at 10am on the Friday conditions were not that great for throwing but a throw of 54.52 was still enough for victory Andrew Sheridan ran a great race in the Senior Boys 2000m Steeplechase to take silver in a new pb of 6.00.87 whilst Gabriella Ade Onojobi added to the medal haul with Bronze in the 300m Hurdles in a time just outside her pb of 44.35 The second club record of the weekend fell to Omari Markland Montgomery who ran 49.91 in his semi final of the 400m to break the second oldest club record on the books - William Barrows 50.0 set back in 1967 In the under 17 Shot Putt Anesa Wanogho just missed out on the medals taking 4th place with a putt of 11.70m whilst Craig Lacy also did well in the senior boys Javelin throwing 56.66 to take 5th place.
Competing at the Don Valley stadium in Sheffield the performance has got to be the club’s best crop of young athletes ever.
