Cup competitions always produce upsets and the team knock out in South London & Kent Pool Alliance is no different.
On Thursday the first round took place with most of the big guns given a bye into the second round, leaving just eight teams battling to get through.
The Coach & Horses from the premier division with two top new signings travelled to first division strugglers Eagle Tavern.
A stroll in the park for the Coach it seemed, however the Eagle had other ideas, and dumped them out of the cup 8-3.
Gallies from Charlton got one over their close rivals in the first division by beating King William IV 8-5 on their own table.
The Fox Under The Hill showed the difference in the divisions by beating the Ship & Billet 8-4 and they will need to do the same again in the next round at Gallies if they are to progress.
Cup holders Hotshots made light work in the only all premier division clash.
Due to non availability on the scheduled date, their match against Woolwich Catholic Club was brought forward a week.
It didn’t disturb their rhythm though as they outclassed them by 8 frames to 1.
The second round in January should see the team knock out start in earnest with many of the top teams getting stuck into each other.
New teams are always welcome into the SLKPA, with teams consisting of 5 or more players and matches played on Thursday evenings.
