Cambridge Harriers senior men managed to repeat last year's 2nd place in this years Reigate relays.

The rain subsided temporarily as the race started and Matt Winn-Smith ran an excellent first leg in a strong field to bring Cambridge home in 7th place. Matt was one of very few people on the day to run a faster time than last year when conditions were much more favourable.

Liam Corcoran overcame recent injury problems that prevented him from running last week in the Kent League to run a solid second leg leaving Harriers in 9th.

Liam was followed by Dave Reader and Mark Penny who had tough legs as the wind and rain returned and the course was beginning to churn up but they both overcame the elements and improved our position by one place each.

Sam Murphy was in the 'B' team last year but had showed he deserved a place in the 'A' team and didn't let the team down as he gained one further place but Dean Lacy still started the last leg more than a minute behind the clubs in 3rd-5th positions.

However, in typical Lacy style, he ran them down over the 2.5 miles and in running the fastest leg of any runner on the day, just brought Cambridge Harriers home in 3rd.

With Tonbridge disqualified from 2nd for only having 5 runners, Cambridge Harriers were promoted into their place. Herne Hill Harriers were the overall winners.
