Bexleyheath & Belvedere Ladies 1-0 Bromley & Beckenham Ladies
WITH Bromley & Beckenham still looking for their first points of the season and Bexleyheath & Belvedere Hockey Club looking for their first home victory, this was always going to be a fierce encounter.
The hosts started off really well and kept peppering the opposition’s defence with some good runs.
But yet again they were unable to put the ball in the back of the net despite numerous chances.
With the Bexleyheath & Belvedere defence on song, it made life extremely difficult for the opposing attackers.
Helen Thompson was the stand out performer yet again and there were solid displays from Debbie Henderson, Sharon Young and Sally Wallace.
It wasn't till midway through the second half when Bexleyheath & Belvedere eventually produced a goal, which turned out to be the winner from Sorcha Crowley.
Bexleyheath & Belvedere continued to dominate for the remainder of the second half with surging runs and numerous shots on target and were unfortunate to hit the post on three separate occasions.
They are now in striking distance of the top four and with no game this weekend, the ladies have plenty of time to prepare for the game against what is a strong Gillingham side.
