CAPSTONE Park in Gillingham was the scene for the first of the Kent AA cross country races earlier this month and the biggest turnout from Dartford Harriers came in the senior men category.

However, it was the under-20s who produced the highest placed runners, with Nick Wood finishing second and Steven Galler ninth.

Other results: Under-13 boys – Connor Williamson 32nd.

Under-15s - Tim Dowling 28th; Dan Gibbons 30th and Oscar Wallace 31st.

Senior men: Stuart Hancock 37th; Stuart Waterman 51st; Tim Orr 55th; Jason Marchant 75th; Steve Hickmott 87th and Tony Durey 121st.

Cross Country athletes gathered in Mote Park in Maidstone on Sunday for the next Kent AA Cross Country meeting.

Conditions were sunny and the course was quite testing.

Wood was once again one of the early leaders in the under-20 men's race, finishing in third place.

Philip Butler also had a good run, placing 11th.

Other results: Under-13 boys - Joshua Kieran 36th and Williamson 37th.

Under-15s: Gibbons 24th and Wallace 28th.

The senior men ran a 6.5 mile course, on which Tim Orr came 51st, Jason Marchant 84th, Tony Durey 101st and Steve Hickmott was 107th.

Dartford Harriers’ ladies had some very good results, especially in the senior ladies age group.

Amy Smith led from the gun and won the race, Cara Oliver was seventh and the improving Ruth Ward was 16th.

This ensured the ladies' team were second overall.

Stephanie Wood and Suzi Wiltshire also had fine runs, finishing in 24th and 42nd respectively.

In the girls' races, Casey Porritt (12th) and Lucy Hickmott (14th) ran very well in the under-15 age group.

Saffron Salih was 13th in the under-13s category, Cassie Benson 38th and Chelsey Eyers 42nd.
