THERE was a wide choice of races for the Istead & Ifield membership to choose from last weekend.
As well as a cross-country on Saturday, Sunday had a 10k in Wilmington, the Great South Run at Portsmouth and the Dublin Marathon.
The cross country at Mote park was a disappointment for I&I, as the men could only muster three runners instead of the four needed to make a team, while the ladies had four when needing three for their team.
Timothy Forsyth took part in the under-13s event, the first time Istead had had a junior runner.
Results: Men (10,000m) - 70th Derek George 42m09s; 79th Andy Archer 24m50s and 85th Steve Lelliot 43m13s.
Ladies (5,000m) - 22nd Angela Hames 23m11s; 38th Sally Whitelaw 25m00s; 53rd Judy Bain 28m26s and 55th Lesley Archer 28m49s.
Under-13s (3,000m) - 24th Timothy Forsyth 12m04s.
Eleven I&I competitors turned out for the Wilmington 10k on Sunday, while there were two in the Dublin Marathon and two in the Great South Run.
Vicky Goodchild had run the Disney 10k race for taster a couple of weeks ago in California, coming 378th out of 2,631 finishers.
The Wilmington runners endured the worst of the day’s weather, getting well and truly soaked and windswept.

Wilmington 10k - 10th Simon Parrin 38m17s; 19th - Joe Cumberland 40m14s: 51st - Steve Cason 43m25s; 56th - Peter Burton 43m 46s; 73rd - Rob Thompson 45m05s; 75th - Nick Clayden 45m15s; 124th - Sue Beecham 49m05s; 182nd - Lesley Irvine 54m 00s (pb) and 240th - Debbie Tyler 57m58s.
