GYMNASTS in Kent will soon be training with the Ukrainian national squad.
Five of Ukraine’s top gymnasts will be visiting the Meapa gymnastics club in Cedar Avenue, Gravesend on November 1.
Two of which are from the senior squad which competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The club will be hosting the seven day visit, during which time the gymnasts will work together in joint training sessions.
The highlight of the visit will be a display from the Ukrainian gymnasts at the Meapa annual club championships, held at the club on November 2.
Head coach Yuriy Zhotyuk who is originally from Ukraine, organised the visit because of his personal links with the Ukrainian team.
He said: “This is an exciting time for the Meapa gymnasts and a fantastic opportunity for them to forge lifelong friendships and to be able to train alongside some of the world’s top international gymnasts.”
