VIGO’S hopes of a second victory in the league were lost along with their discipline away to unbeaten Cranbrook as they went down 23-12.

They started slowly and two quick tries, both converted, along with a penalty gave Cranbrook a useful lead before Ben Paget finished a neat blind side move to give Vigo a glimmer of hope.

Vigo pressed but, too often, lost the ball or knocked on allowing Cranbrook to keep their lead.

The villagers had a seemingly good pushover try disallowed by the referee, which would have brought them back into the game at the start of the second half.

Although Andy Wilford crossed, converted by Bob Fitton, it was too late to affect the result.

Being marched back several times for querying the referee’s decision did not help their cause.

The home side, used to the referee and his ways, wisely kept their counsel and were rewarded with two further penalties to stretch their lead.

Vigo just missed out on a losing bonus point when a last minute drop goal attempt sailed wide.
