AFTER a tough start to the season, Bexleyheath & Belvedere Hockey Club’s second XI were looking to secure their first points with a trip to Old Bordenians.
The game started well for BBHC, who moved the ball around swiftly and pressed OBs into their own half.
BBHC won several short corners before the opposition gradually began to work their way into the game. Both sides created opportunities, but it was BBHC who took the lead after Andrew Horseman went forward from midfield in possession.
The forwards in front made great runs to split the defence, allowing Horseman a free shot at the top of the D, which he duly placed past the OB keeper.
OBs continued to push forward and managed to equalise with a well-struck reverse strike from the top of the D, which the defence were slow to close down.
BBHC reacted positively to this set back and created several good chances before the lead was restored from a well-struck short corner by Alan Sains and the score remained 2-1.
