A TOTAL of 127 competitors took part when the White Oak Triathlon club staged their second Duathlon on Sunday.
Entitled the Fast and the Furious, the race comprises a five kilometre run, a 22km bike ride followed by another five kilometre run.
The event is aimed at novice and experienced adult athletes alike and represents a great way to try a multi-sport contest without having to overcome a swim leg, often the discipline that puts most people off!
Covering an undulating course through Darenth Valley, the race was run in mild conditions, providing a welcome change for all concerned from the April event which had to be cancelled at the last minute due to an unpredicted snowfall.
The British Triathlon Association-sanctioned race started and finished at the Anthony Roper Primary School in Eynsford.
Athletes left in three waves to avoid congestion on the course.
White Oak’s Andrew Warpole secured a narrow win, beating the course record by more than a minute, while the first lady home Claire Hitchings led a clean sweep of the ladies’ podium for her club Sevenoaks Tri.
