SQUASH players are set to descend on Bexley next weekend for the inaugural Bexley Open squash tournament.
Bexley Lawn Tennis Squash and Racketball club on Parkhurst Road will play host to the three-day competition on October 24, October 25 and October 25.
A qualifying round, which is open to everyone, will be held on Thursday before the big event starts 24 hours later.
The finals will start at 4:30pm on Sunday.
Among the top seeds to take part is Ben Ford, current world number 89 and newly appointed head coach of Bexley LTS&RC.
Since his arrival at the club, Ford’s focus has been on encouraging young people to play the game by introducing them to squash for the first time.
He has already visited several primary schools in the area to demonstrate mini-squash and will be offering secondary schools a 10-week taster course early in the new year.
