THE London Knights Ice Hockey team got off to a great start in its bid to retain the Sekonda SuperLeague Play-off title.

A 2-1 win at the much-imporved Nottingham Patners on Saturday was followed by a 4-2 victory against the Belfast

Giants at the London Arena on Sunday.

After Trevor Robbins has excelled with a series of fine stops in the home goal, Jay Neal set up Mark Kolesar to fire past former Knights goalkeeper Mark Cavalin in the 12th minute.

Doug Searle levelled for the Giants after 20 minutes, but the Knights hit back within sedonds when Terry Marchant was the chief assist in Mark Koivunoro's goal.

During a second period in which tempers flared, Bryan Richardson scored from close range to make it 3-1 before the Giants pulled one back when Kevin Riehl squeezed a shot past Robbins.

The Knights' goalie then preserved his side's lead with several more wonderful saves before, with 15 seonds of time left, Mark Dutieme clinched it by shooting into an empty net.

The Knights' next game in the play-offs is at the London Arena against Nottingham on Sunday with a 4pm face-off.
