Forest Hill School put up a valiant effort but lost the Heinz Ketchup Cup Final to Barlow High School, from Manchester, in a match played at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea Football Club.
Barlow High soon asserted command by scoring twice in two minutes from birthday boy, Daniel Heffernan.
But Forest Hill rallied and their hard work paid off with a goal in the 26th minute from Lewis James, which
recuced the arrears.
Captain Anthony Grant worked tirelessly for Forest Hill in midfield and during an exciting second-half both sides missed a number of chances.
The match nearly had a dramatic ending when, with just a few seconds remaining, James found himself clear on goal with just Barlow's goalkeeper, Billy Blower, to beat.
But James' shot was saved and the final whistle blew moments later to signal the end of eight rounds of football to reach this stage and which involved more than 1,000 school teams aged 14 and under at the outset.
