A FORMER Charles Darwin student will be among the Team GB medal hopes competing in Beijing next week.
Nick Robinson-Baker partners fellow diver Ben Swain in the men's synchronised three metre springboard at the National Aquatics Centre, nicknamed the water cube, in China's capital city.
"I am definitely hoping to finish among the medals," said Nick, who already has European and World Series bronze and silver medals to his credit and has added determination since missing out on the Commonwealth Games.
"I injured my shoulder and was out for six months.
"When I came back I trained really hard but just missed out on qualifying."
Robinson-Baker, who was among the first athletes to arrive in Beijing, has already started final preparations in the water cube and is impressed with the Olympic Village and the attention to detail of the Team GB officials.
He said: "Our accommodation is awesome and you really feel like you are walking into the British camp.
"It is the best competition accommodation we've ever stayed in.
"Our bedrooms have so many Team GB touches, it has a great feel to it."
