DARTFORD played a key role in securing Great Britain under-21 men's team the world canoe polo championship.
Four members of the Meridian team, which is based at Danson Park, made up half of the eight-strong team which beat France in a dramatic final on Sunday.
Greg Hockey, Will Borrett, Dan Robson and Jack Robson formed the Dartford quartet and there was nothing to separate the two sides at full-time, with the game finishing goalless.
This set up a golden goal finale and although none of the Dartford players found the target, fortunately a Welsh colleague did and Britain won gold.
The British women's team also claimed victory in their final with a 4-3 win against Germany, making it a memorable weekend for the travelling party who will return to Gatwick with their medals and trophies on Sunday.
