Blackheath and Bromley Harriers athlete Montell Douglas' run of pre-Olympic form stumbled slightly when she failed to qualify for the finals of the women's 100m at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The 22-year-old who broke Cathy Cooke's 27-year-old British record with a run of 11.05 seconds last week at the LEAP International meeting at Loughborough, never recovered from a poor start and came in sixth with a time of 11.27 seconds.
Speaking after the race the Harrier said she was still confident of coming among the last eight in Beijing.
She said: "I never feel good on the start line but it comes good in the race.
"I have got a lot of confidence and I'm really looking forward to Beijing.
"I am confident of making the finals."
The heat gave her the chance to mix it with runners who will be strong medal contenders in just over a week's time at the Bird's Nest Stadium in Beijing.
Marshevet Hooker of the US came in first in 11.04 seconds and there was a strong run from Jamaican Veronica Campbell.
Douglas admitted she was troubled by a false start in lane one and her confidence suffered.
She said: "I felt good in the warm up but the false start didn't help.
"I didn't feel too good when we were on the line.
"I just wanted to get through today."
This she did without any apparent injury problems.
And the British women's 4x100m relay team - which she will be part of in Beijing - also got a run out on Friday evening at the Aviva Grand Prix event, coming in third to strong US and Jamaican teams.
