FORMER British Ladies' pistol champion Rosemary Edgar was on hand to present awards at the Sidcup Pistol Club in Alma Road.

Mrs Edgar was the 25m British champion from 1976 to 1983 before going on to become a national pistol shooting coach.

She congratulated the club on its achievements and commended the brother and sister team of Paul and Tanya Lillis.

Paul shoots for England and is in the national squad, while Tanya is a member of the junior development squad.

Jamie Binder, 16, was named club champion for the 10m pistol ahead of runner-up Paul Lillis, 19, and 18-year-old Lawrence Easterbrook in third.

A gold medal from the national smallbore and rifle association for a top place in a league pistol shoot was awarded to 17-year-old Lewis Clarke.

The Sidcup Pistol Club meets every Friday evening at the Sidcup Arts Centre in Alma Road.

It has recently benefited from grants given by Bexley Council to develop its shooting range and to attend coaching sessions at the national shooting centre in Bisley, Surrey.
