Modern pentathlete Joe Choong hopes he can go about his business quietly as one of the underdogs in the competition in Rio.
Choong, from Bromley, begins his Olympic Games today (August 18) and believes he is in the top shape ahead of the competition.
The former Whitgift School pupil, 20, said: “I am really excited both about competing and also being part of Team GB.
“It is great in the Athletes’ Village and I have been making friends with athletes from all different sports who I haven’t met before.
“I am feeling in good shape, probably the best of the season.
“At the World Championships I unfortunately got food poisoning, but before then I felt in great shape. I just want to go out there and perform to the best of my ability.
“I definitely feel like the underdog, but that also means there less attention on me. It means I can quietly get along with my business and hopefully surprise some people.”
