KICKBOXING: After a tough five-round battle against a Dutch opponent, Gravesend's Tina Harvey, from Star kickboxing, is now European Champion.
Harvey managed to defeat her previous opponents in the past, meaning she now has five Nations Champion belts and two British titles among her collection .
BOXING: Lewis Pettitt on Saturday defended his WBA Inter-Continental super bantamweight title with victory over Argentina’s Santiago Allione.
The 24-year-old, from Erith, fought on the undercard of the Tyson Fury-Dereck Chisora and Billy Joe Saunders-Chris Eubank Jr bill at London’s ExCel Arena.
He earned a unanimous decision over the 12-round distance, but only after coming under pressure from his experienced opponent in the final third of the fight.
“#AndStill wasn’t my best performance, couldn’t move my feet after four rounds but got a good 12 rounds in #Ouch #Blisters,” Pettitt, 15-1 (5), said on Twitter afterwards.
The Bexleyheath light welterweight Jack Dishart on Friday won his sixth professional fight at the Camden Centre in Kings Cross.
His Hungarian opponent, Karoly Lakatos, was exceptionally negative throughout the four-round fight but the stronger Dishart, 5-1, caught up with him by the end of the second and eased to victory thereafter.
The weekend was a greater disappointment for Sam Cantwell, son of the former world title challenger Mickey and also of Bexleyheath.
Cantwell was another scheduled to fight at Kings Cross on Friday but suffered a hairline fracture to his wrist that ruled him out. He expects to return to the ring in February.
