Westcombe Park suffered a second consecutive defeat on Saturday when they were beaten 18-13 at Westcliff, writes Mike Attewell.
Westcliff had missed a penalty before Conor O’Brien put them ahead with a try in the fourth minute.
Combe worked their way back into it with a Ben Hough try after 16 minutes and then Iain Gordon put the Orpington side ahead with a penalty on the half hour.
Unusually, both conversions bounced off the crossbars but Westcliff leveled the scores shortly before the interval with the first of Greg Bannister’s points.
Despite Westcliff dominating the second half, Combe scored their second try just seven minutes after the restart when Joe Wilkes crossed.
It took the hosts ten minutes to take the lead as Bannister went under the posts and nailed the conversion.
Bannister slotted a penalty a few minutes later to seal victory for the hosts.
* Despite having more of the possession and the opportunities, Old Colfeians came away empty-handed when they were beaten 19-13 by Thanet.
The Lee side’s scorers were Ben Westhead with a try and Dan Courtneidge with a conversion and two penalties.
Tries from Thor Normann and Tom Coad couldn’t prevent Charlton Park going down 26-12 at Cobham.
