There was a top of the table clash in the South London & Kent Pool Alliance Division Two this week as Rileys Sharpshooters took on Plumstead Radical Club Rebels.
In the previous fixture earlier this season, Rebels won in a deciding frame 8-7 and since then Sharpshooters have had a lot of big wins to take them to the top of the table.
In this match frames started to go as expected with the division leaders taking the first set 3-2 and they went on to win the first frame of the second set.
Jon Syta then started a fight back with a fine clearance that ignited a much needed eight frame winning streak for Rebels, which also included a top quality clearance from Tony Stork.
Sharpshooters broke the streak in frame thirteen but Rebels took the last two frames to win the match 10-5.
Paul Rowlinson and Syta were unbeaten for the Rebels, winning three and two frames respectively, with Elliot Giles the only one to stand out for Sharpshooters with two out of three frame wins.
This victory halves the gap between the two teams to just five points, with Rebels still in second.
Hot on Rebels heels are Bellegrove A, who are just three points behind after an 11-4 victory oner Lord Herbert.
Bellegrove won the first seven frames but Herbert looked to be staging a come back as they won the next three, although it was short lived as Bellegrove won the first four frames of the final set.
It was a great night for the Mitchells as father and son, Terry and Richie both won two out of two but Keith went one better, winning all three frames.
Mavji Halai also won both his frames for Bellegrove.
It was a much closer match between Glenmore Arms II and White Hart, with Glenmore narrowly winning 8-7.
Glenmore's Lee Dale made an excellent dish from a dry break and Patrick Melia won all three of his frames.
Glenmore's A side had the same 8-7 score line in their top of the table clash in SLKPA Division One, although they lost to Eltham Terrace Rovers.
Rovers took a 6-1 lead but Glenmore clawed it back to 6-4 by the end of the second set, Paul Dawson won his third of the night to leave Rovers only needing one frame but Glenmore won the next three frames to send the match into a final frame decider.
The top two in last season's Tier Two rankings faced each other to decide the match and it was Darren Porter who gained revenge on James Grant for beating him in the rankings and give Rovers the victory.
Despite the win Rovers still dropped to third after Fox & Hounds beat Bellegrove Social Club 11-4.
The first set was close with Fox just edging it 3-2 but they went on to take the next two 4-1.
It was a great all round team performance with Kerry Wyatt and Clive Forrest winning all three frames, Les Ryan both his frames and Earnest Chin his only frame.
Eltham Terrace Nuthouse had another bad day at the office as they lost 8-7 to Royal Oak Addicks.
Addicks won the first set 3-2 but Nuthouse turned it round in the second with a 4-1 victory, with the Addicks matching that score in the final set to win the match and leapfrog their opponents into fourth place.
The top two in the SLKPA Premier Division, O'Connors and Rileys Hotshots are still unbeaten, although O'Connors have gone top by one point after this weeks results.
O'Connors secured top spot with a 12-3 win over Eltham Terrace Rack Pack.
They won the first seven frames before Rack Pack won the next two and O'Connors took the last frame of the set for an 8-2 lead going into the final set, which they won 4-1.
Adam Coppen, James Sheed and Tony Gear were all unbeaten on three out of three.
Hotshots had a tough match against third placed Eltham Terrace Club A.
Eltham Terrace won the first set in style, 3-2 as it included a dish from a dry break by Dan Heinink and a break and dish by Dan Foley.
Hotshots won the second set by the same score to tie the match at five all but Ben McIntosh broke and dished to give Eltham the advantage.
This didn't last long as Hotshots won the next two frames but Eltham won the fourteenth frame to take the match to a final frame decider.
So far undefeated on the night, Danny Kelliher for Hotshots and Dan Heinink faced each other so something had to give and it was Kelliher who held his nerve to give Hotshots the 8-7 victory.
Neil Hall was also unbeaten for Hotshots on two out of two.
Also going down to a final frame decider was the match between Pickwick and Radical Club Rebels.
Rebels came back from 6-3 down to tie the match at seven all but Paul Slater cleared well under pressure to win the match 8-7 for Pickwick.
Declan Kelly stood firm for Rebels by winning all three of his frames.
Pickwick Academicals started well against North Heath Social Club by winning the first set 3-2 but they seemed to fall apart after that as North Heath won the other two sets 4-1, making the final score 10-5 in North Heath's favour.
Brett Crawley managed to grind out three frame wins for the victors.
Bellegrove picked up their second win of the season, 9-6 to go three points behind their opponents, Foots Cray Social Club Rugrats.
The day after this week's fixtures, long standing player and SLKPA Interleague team member Pankaj Chilkoti lost his battle against a critical illness, he will be missed within the league and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
