A father and son from New Eltham enjoyed medal success while representing the UK national karate southern zone squad in Hornchurch.
George Nicola, 15, took gold in kata and silver in kumite in the junior black belt opens where his father George Senior, 50, collected silver in the instructors division to go along with the team gold.
Plumstead’s Barry Hill claimed double bronze in kata and kumite with Sidcup’s Lyn Lind securing silver in kumite and bronze in kata in the female division along with a gold in teams.
Harry Ridler, aged eight from Plumstead, sealed gold in the junior kumite, while fellow eight-year-old Charlie Hill won bronze.
In total the squad returned with a tally of 22 medals, including the team gold at both junior and senior level.
