Impressive scoring from Calum Haggett (75) and Charlie-Sid Speller (74) saw Blackheath maintain top spot in the Kent Cricket League Premier Division.

Their successful partnership in the 88 run home win over Sandwich began with the score at 86-3, figures which had climbed to 252-5 by the time Speller was finally caught by Alex Smith.

None of the tail-end batsmen reached double figures as Blackheath set their opponents a target of 275-9.

Sandwich were on course to reach it before opener Marnus Labuschange (73) was caught by Jahid Ahmed off the delivery of Dipayan Paul (3-38) to put them on 115-3.

Zack Fagg (41) was the next to depart, the second of Tanweer Sikandar’s (4-45) quartet of victims, and only Daniel Evans (27) came close to producing the kind of scoring figures required as Sandwich were dismissed for 187 with four overs remaining.

Bromley (137) were overtaken by Lordswood (274-7) in third spot after going down to a heavy 137 run defeat.

Chris Piseley (78) and Matt Greenwwod (64) proved a tough pairing for the Bromley bowlers to get the better of, although it was Dominic Reed (4-68) who provided the ball which enabled Andrew Wright to stump Piseley.

But despite the best efforts of Daniel Christian (55), Bromley’s remaining batsmen were unable to rise to the challenge and were beaten with almost 10 overs to spare.

Hartley (261-7) moved up to fifth and level on points with Bromley after enjoying a three wicket triumph at basement side Bickley Park (256-7).

Daniel Magin (108no) and Alex Darroch (75) will feel particularly hard done by to find themselves on the losing side after stunning efforts with the bat for Bickley.

But ultimately it wasn’t enough as James Hockley (79), Shanon Fattore (50), Jake Hutson (44no) and Scott McKechnie (34) all weighed in to ensure defending champions Hartley passed the target with 15 balls left.

Alex Blake posted a century to leave Beckenham (199) comfortable in mid-table thanks to a 20 run victory at strugglers Bexley (179).

Blake (100) was eventually caught by Jack Potter off Adeel Malik’s (4-57) ball to leave the visitors on 186-8, a tally they were only able to add another 13 runs to before Waheed Ali (5) became Malik’s final scalp.

But even though Malik hit 76 runs when taking up the bat for the hosts, Junaid Nadir (4-39) sent him packing and Bexley were beaten inside 44 overs.
