Richard Selvey-Clinton led Bromley to an 86-run home win over Bexley in the Kent Cricket League Premier Division on Saturday.
There was steady scoring throughout from the hosts’ batting line-up, with Daniel Christian (32) and Calum Basey (32) forming a useful opening partnership.
By the time Basey was caught by Adeel Malik, Bromley were 87-2.
That was when Selvey-Clinton came on to take his place and he was the last man standing as the home side eventually reached 227-5 from the allotted 55 overs.
Early departures for Jasdev Bassan (5) and Kashif Nizami (5) left Bexley instantly up against it on 12-2.
But it was the bowling display of Nathan Hill (5-60) which was to ultimately prove their undoing.
His first success was Mehdi Abbas (7), at which stage the visitors stood on 52-6.
Jack Potter (23), Jack Bell (30), Jason Benn (5) and Stanley Wells (5) all went the same way and Bexley were eventually dismissed for 141.
The result leaves Bromley third in the table, although it is Blackheath (291-9) who still lead the way after they were made to work hard by Canterbury (278) in a narrow 13-run success.
Having won the toss and deciding to bat first, Blackheath made the worst possible start as Chris Willetts (0) and Jahid Ahmed (2) were bowled out by Chris Hartley (6-72).
Charlie-Sid Speller (11) was his next scalp to put the leaders on 59-3, but by then Tanweer Sikandar (94) was racking up the runs and he formed what proved to be a match winning partnership with Calum Haggett (77).
As well as being his side’s top scorer, it was Sikandar (3-40) who did most damage with the ball for Blackheath by taking the final two Canterbury wickets of Charlie Hartley (25) and Imran Qayyum (1) to seal victory with only 13 balls remaining.
Hartley (192-3) made a welcome return to winning ways with a seven wicket demolition of Beckenham (188).
It looked unlikely when William MacVicar (58) was caught by Shane Deitz off the delivery of Daniel Redwood (3-39) to put Becks on 76-3.
But the only remaining batsmen to reach double figures were Raza Ali Dar (28), David Draper (44) and Ross Piller (28) as the visitors were bowled out in 47 overs.
Hartley opening duo James Hockley (74) and Dan Stickels (48) combined well to fire the hosts towards that target before eventually being bowled by Junaid Nadir (3-70) to leave them on 128-2.
Scott McKechnie (22) was to be their sole remaining casualty as Shane Deitz (19no) and James Thompson (22no) wrapped up the points.
Basement side Bickley (140) endured a torrid afternoon as they were well and truly trounced by Sandwich (141-1) in a nine wicket home mauling.
Liam Evans (5-30) and Matthew Hunn (3-35) were the main cause of their downfall despite some steady scoring from Daniel Magin (40), Michael Ridley (21no) and Alex Darroch (19).
And it took visitors a mere 28 overs to reach the target and deepen the relegation fears of their hosts.
Saturday’s fixtures (12pm start): Bexley v Beckenham, Bickley v Hartley, Blackheath v Sandwich, Bromley v Lordswood.
