BEXLEY mayor Councillor Alan Downing was on hand to present trophies to members of the North West Kent table tennis league at its finals night at VCD Athletic in Crayford.

The Division One singles crown was secured by Richard Farthing, who beat reigning champion Peter Ives 3-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-7 in an entertaining match.

David Crawley defeated another reigning champ Farhang Fazeli 8-11, 17-15, 11-8, 11-3 in a see-saw Division Two singles final.

Peter Ives and Norman Grant took the Division One doubles title with an 11-7, 11-8, 7-11, 12-10 victory over last year’s holders Peter Davis and Lloyd Francis.

Leon Pang and Ricardo Iusuf claimed the Division Two doubles crown claimed by in another tight affair, winning 11-6, 11-13, 11-7, 11-5 against Dan Molloy and Alex Kolesnikov.

The Division Three prizes were dominated by George Haining, who ran out a 11-5, 11-8, 11-4 winner over Peter Mills to win the singles, having earlier won the doubles with David Harrison 11-7, 11-7, 6-11, 11-7 by defeating Peter Mills and Andy Plunkett.
