A JUDO club has moved from Bexleyheath to Gravesend.
The United Judo Club has been established for just over a year in the Bexleyheath but has already managed to produce two national level competitors and become Kent team champions.
Former world masters champion Dave Quinn is the head coach and is looking forward to the challenges which lie ahead at new venue Northfleet School for Girls in Gravesend.
He explained: “We are delighted and honoured to have been able to find a place to set up a judo club in this area for both girls and boys.
“For years I have felt there is talent and ability which remains undiscovered until now.”
This month three of the club’s junior competitorscollected medals at the Kent closed championships. The event determines who will fight for Kent at the southern England team championships in May.
Farren Davie, 12, claimed gold, Jayden Seal, 11, won silver and eight-year-old Frankie Warren bronze.
Quinn will be taking a team to compete in Valencia this year and is looking to start training other future young hopefuls.
He said: “We hold and participate in many low level and beginner competitions where the children learn to throw their partner or hold them down to win.
“Currently the class has vacancies for seven-year-olds to 16-year-olds every Monday between 6.30pm and 8pm on a Monday.”
