TWO tries apiece to prop Dale Bellinger and centre Ben Hough, together with seven points from the boot of Luke Giles, inspired Westcombe Park to a convincing 27-0 home win over Guernsey, writes Mike Attewell.

The Channel Islanders had their share of possession and territory but lacked a cutting edge against a competent Combe defence.

With superior handling and straight running, Westcombe Park always looked the most dangerous and Bellinger’s try in the 15th minute set the seemingly inevitable on course.

Giles added a penalty and then converted Hough’s late first half try for a 15-0 lead at the break.

Combe had already enjoyed a couple of running breaks before the forwards set up a maul that which saw Bellinger get his second try early in the second half.

Despite Westcombe Park’s superiority in most phases, it wasn't until the last minute Hough finally broke clear to secure the bonus point near the posts, with Giles adding the points.
