Cray Wanderers began the new Ryman Premier League season by earning a point from a 1-1 draw away to newcomers Leiston.
Cray's long trip into Suffolk was rewarded after just two minutes when skipper Mark Willy netted from a well-worked corner-kick.
The Wands dominated the first twenty-five minutes of play but were pegged back in the 32nd minute when the home side's Luke Hammond curled a free-kick into the net.
It was an even game after that, with Cray relieved to see a late chance for Leiston sent straight into the hands of 'keeper Andy Walker.
Cray: Walker, Burgess, Sterling, Saunders, Willy, Day, Sproson (Pooley 61), Stavrinou, Bremner, Phillips, Williams (Beveney). Subs not used: Tuna, Peauroux, Power.
Cray are at home to Whitehawk, another newly-promoted team, on Tuesday night at Hayes Lane (7.45pm).
