THE first of three football festivals for U11 and U13 girls took place at Hall Place in Bexley.
Organised by the London FA, who are working in partnership with Bexley football development officer Claire Shevlin and charter standard development club Foots Cray Lions JFC, the event was set up to give girls in the area more opportunity to play competitively.
There was a big emphasis on participation and the girls’ having fun and to help encourage this, no scores were kept on the day with awards instead presented to the most sporting team and the player of the festival.
Miss Shevlin said: “It has been a great day for girls’ football in Bexley and shows the sport is continuing to grow in the borough.”
The next of the three festivals will be taking place on April 28 at the Bishop Justus School .
