Dartford Ladies under-12s 1 v 3 Sheerness East under-12s
KG&LFL under-12s Division Two
PLUCKY Dartford Ladies under-12s fought courageously in only their second league outing, writes Brian Page.
With only 10 players available and a delayed start, the Oakfield Lane side played against a strong Sheerness East side in a hard-fought first half.
Despite two excellent saves from stand-in goalkeeper Faye Rodgers, and solid performances from Aimee McDermott and new-signing Eillya Gemili, the Dodgers found themselves trailing by a single but well-worked goal just before the interval.
The visitors doubled their lead with a well-taken strike after the break but the Dodgers quickly pulled one back after a tactical reformation and Connie Lewin set up striker Sacha Morris.
Late in the game, midfielder Abi Brookes was denied a chance to equalise and share the spoils, with Sheerness taking the opportunity to break away and fire home a third goal and collect all three points.
Sacha Morris was voted as Player of the Match.
At this early stage in the season, the Dodgers are still looking to recruit Year 6 and 7 girls to strengthen the existing squad.
