Basingstoke 1 v 3 Welling Utd

Nationwide Conference South

WELLING United climbed to sixth in the Conference South thanks to a virtuoso performance from Danny Kedwell in Hampshire.

The striker scored two and created a third in a dominant first half and despite conceding in the second half, the Wings never looked unduly threatened.

There were just 50 seconds on the clock when Kedwell hit his first, latching onto Jamie Day's pass, poking the ball past the out-rushing goalkeeper and rolling it into the empty net.

The hitman turned provider just five minutes later when his cross was turned into his own net by Joe Dolan under pressure from Martin Carthy.

Adrian Pennock's Wings dominated the rest of the half and Kedwell added number three on 36 minutes cutting in from the left to arrow a shot into the bottom corner.

The second half was a muted affair with Basingstoke, who have only one league win to their name so far this season, grabbing a deserved consolation on 64 minutes through Jamie Taylor.
