A FOREST Hill football team is making headlines following a season of success on the pitch.
HF Sports fielded eight competitive teams last season and seven either won or finished runners-up in their leagues. Players from across the seven to 13 age range represented at the club have already attracted attention from the likes of Chelsea, Charlton, Millwall and Crystal Palace.
“The 2010/11 season has been one of success which we could not have dreamt of this time last year,” said club secretary Wayne Simon at the annual awards celebration on Sunday.
The club’s teams play in the SELKENT League and the U11 Cobras even managed to secure a league and cup double.
Both U9 sides won their respective divisions after losing only once, while the U10s Cobras went unbeaten to lift their league title.
The senior Cobras U13s team finished second in the highly-competitive A league and narrowly lost their Shield final.
HF Sports’ Sunday league teams are drawn from the hundreds of children who turn up to the club’s weekly open training sessions at the Kings College Sports Ground in Forest Hill on Saturday mornings.
The club’s commitment to coaching kids at all levels has won it charter development standard.
