A SUPERB 30-yard free kick from Frankie Ryan saw Woolwich District U11s finally pick up some silverware after a well earned win over rivals Bexley in the final of the Bexley Cup.
Ryan, a pupil at Ealdham School, scored the only goal of the game after 10 minutes when he smashed a shot into the roof of the net after Oliver Milton had been brought down.
Woolwich, the traditional name for the Greenwich borough district side, had a few chances to increase their lead but were denied by some last-ditch tackling from the Bexley defence.
Manager Claire Weatherhead said: “It was no more than the team deserved and I am really proud of them.
“It was fantastic strike from Frankie and worthy of winning a trophy.”
Assistant manager Mark Hilton added: “It was a brilliant all-round team performance.”
