Sporting Bengal 0 v 2 Slade Green

FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round

SLADE Green made the short trip through the Blackwall Tunnel to Mile End in order to progress in the FA Cup at the expense of fellow Kent League side Sporting Bengal, writes Martin Wiseman.

Although comfortable 2-0 winners in the end, Sporting always had a chance of forcing a replay until Adam Heaslewood had his legs taken from under him in the 83rd minute and Adam Morrish converted the penalty.

Slade took the lead when Morrish's was poorly dealt with by Idowu and his weak back header was intercepted by Paul McKey who slipped the ball past the keeper for 1-0 on 13 minutes.

Sporting came close towards the end of the first half but this was matched by two Green efforts either side of half-time.

Heaslewood failed to lob the keeper when clean through while Green claimed the ball had crossed the line immediately afterwards when Gross got a toe to Heaslewood's free-kick.

Sporting's Helaluz Hussain nearly surprised the visitors from full 40 yards when he spotted Moore off his line.

The same player then came close curling a 74th minute corner direct into the net.

But within a minute of Green's late penalty Sporting found themselves down to 10 men following Abdul Khair's dismissal and the visitors then ran amok in added time.

Substitute Danny Morgan shot weakly wide when through, Gross could not quite reach a cross while Andy Dalhouse's cross-shot won Green a slightly dubious hand-ball penalty.

3-0 would have been harsh on the hosts and when Sporting's keeper flung himself to his left to deny Moorish a second penalty maybe justice was served.

Green now host Eastbourne United or Cobham for the right to play Slough Town.
