AT THIS early stage of the Kent Football League, Greenwich Borough are sitting pretty at the top of the table.
However, while they have played three matches the majority of the league has only played once.
And Greenwich were found out at the weekend as VCD Athletic, playing their first game of the season, beat them 2-1 with a brace from Mark Greatorex enough to beat Dave Hassett's strike.
The weekend's league action was also disrupted by the FA Cup Preliminary Round where Erith Town went down 2-0 to Hailsham Town and Erith and Belvedere banged six past Herne Bay.
Slade Green progress in the competition thanks to a 2-0 win at Sporting Bengal with Adam Morrish and John Paul McKey getting the goals.
Thamesmead beat Reading Town by the odd goal in seven.
A Curtis Williams brace and Ricky Cable's 80th minute goal had Mead 3-2 ahead with minutes remaining.
But Robert Bixby's penalty levelled the scores until Pedro Knight scored the winner in the 90th minute.
Kent League new boys Faversham recorded their first win of the season as Andy Martin scored the goals which beat Sevenoaks.
The match of the weekend was at Tunbridge Wells where Beckenham's Ashley Carew and Ross Cable helped themselves to hat-tricks in a 6-2 win.
