BROMLEY maintained their 100 per cent record this season and in the process ended Welling United's unbeaten start to the new campaign on Saturday with victory at Hayes Lane.
The hosts had the first real effort on goal after 17 minutes when Warren McBean fired a shot over the bar from the edge of the area, which comfortably went over the bar as Wings keeper Charlie Mitten looked on.
Almost immediately, Welling had their first attempt on goal as Joe Healy just failed to get enough power on his shot and the ball was gathered easily by Bromley keeper Wes Foderingham.
Welling’s best attempt come with half an hour on the clock when Jack Obersteller chested the ball into the path of Andy Pugh, whose low strike forced Foderingham into a fine save.
Bromley closed the half with a good chance as a fine low save from Mitten thwarted Paul Vines' stinging shot from hitting the back of the net just before the break.
Mark Goldberg’s side started the second half a lot brighter than Welling and dominated for large periods, although it was from a Wings attack that they opened the scoring in the 65th minute.
A long ball from Bromley's midfield caught out the Welling backline and allowed Warren McBean to run onto pass and smash past the on rushing Mitten into the top corner.
One then became two in the 73rd minute as Welling lost possession in midfield and Bromley broke with speed.
The lively Vines then cut a pass across the six-yard area for McBean to slot past Mitten and make it 2-0.
Having made a few changes, the new introductions seemed to freshen the Wings up and a great run from Luis Cumbers played in Tommy Whitnell who whipped in a lovely chip from the by-line for Ben Billings to head past Foderingham.
There was last minute drama when a teasing cross from Billings found Femi Omogbehin and his header was heading for the top corner until the impressive Foderingham produced a superb save to dash Welling’s hope of a draw.
Bromley are top of the table, while the Wings are now seventh after suffering their first defeat of the campaign.
