FORMER Crystal Palace supremo Mark Goldberg has expressed his delight that the Eagles are officially out of administration.

Goldberg, a Palace fan, was at the helm in 1999 when the club were last plunged into administration.

It is a situation which repeated itself in January when Simon Jordan, who had rescued the club in 2000, lost his battle with creditors.

Palace flirted once again with extinction throughout the summer, culminating in a fans protest at Lloyd’s headquarters in London.

Fortunately, they were saved at the last minute by a consortium of wealthy fans called CPFC 2010, and officially came out of administration last Friday.

And Goldberg, who now manages Blue Square South side Bromley, couldn’t be happier for the club.

He said: “I’m very pleased with the fact the club has secured itself with the freehold.

“I’m also pleased the club has owners with a lot of substance behind them as well as a love for the club.

“The future is very bright.”

The Bromley boss is also encouraged by CPFC 2010’s judgement in appointing their new manager.

Goldberg insisted: “The appointment of George Burley is a stable one.

“The long-term prospects of the club are looking extremely promising under the new management and ownership.”
