WELLING scored four goals in a game for the second time in a week but plucky Erith Town gave a strong Wings side a tougher test than they may have expected in an entertaining game.
With boss Jamie Day away, it was left to Barry Ashby to cast his eye over the Wings squad and trialists as the Park View Road side prepare for their opener against Hampton in just over two weeks time.
Erith opened the scoring on 13 minutes through David Hall when his powerful drive went in off the post.
Welling equalised 13 minutes later when a long ball was played into the box and former Leyton Orient striker Loick Pires headed back for Tom Whitnell, who headed powerfully past the Erith keeper.
Erith regained the advantage when Chris Brooker volleyed in from close range.
Welling levelled for a second time just before half-time when Lee Clarke scored from the penalty spot after the lively Pugh had been fouled.
After the usual batch of interval substitutes, Welling took the lead for the first time when Sam Billings capped a positive second half display by drilling into the bottom left hand corner after being released down the flank by Daryl Robson.
Welling started to take control on the game and Joe Healy put daylight between the two teams when he scored the Wings' fourth.
After getting on the end of a delightful pass inside the Erith box, the busy Healy controlled and set himself in one smooth motion before smashing a volley into the bottom corner, bringing to a close a good work out for Welling.
