AN AWARD-winning north Kent stadium has been included in London’s bid to host the 2018 World Cup.
Princes Park stadium in Dartford has been put forward as a potential venue for visiting national football teams to use for public training sessions before matches.
The borough has also been suggested as the site of a private training camp and for hotel accommodation for the tournament, meaning one of the competing team's would be based completely in Dartford.
Dartford Council's sport and project delivery officer Stephen Jefferson said: “All of us remember how Euro ‘96 electrified the nation, and the buzz around the 2012 Olympics is already reaching fever pitch.
"If England is fortunate enough to host in 2018, Dartford will guarantee a warm welcome to players.”
