JUNIOR Reds U9 Sabres experienced excitement in their Selkent League Challenge Cup final played last weekend.
In two very keenly contested games, they eventually ran out winners to lift the coveted trophy.
Junior Reds beat Phoenix Lions 2-0 in their first game and then went on to play U9 league champions Petts Wood Harriers in the deciding match.
Despite twice trailing, Junior Reds equalised twice before edging ahead to win the tie 3-2 thanks to a free-kick from Toby Moth.
Manager Mark Spellward said: “The players worked really hard this season and have produced some excellent performances.
“We came very close in our Easter tournament at Bognor Regis but finished as losing finalists but today was just perfect.
“The lads are exhausted after having to come back twice in the deciding game against strong opponents but are obviously delighted.”
There was more success for Junior Reds teams with the U10 Valiants winning their division having spent time in the basement positions for a good part of the season, while two other teams have reached Trophy finals at the end of the month.
