ALL the talk in the past week has been about the 'Sven Saga' as they put it.

The papers have been questioning whether it was the right time for the FA to announce that Sven will leave after this year's World Cup in Germany, whether he jumped before he was pushed, and who's going to be his successor?

Those in the frame are Guus Hiddink, Charlton manager Alan Curbishley, Wigan's Paul Jewell, Manchester City's Stuart Pearce, Steve Coppell and Steve McClaren, who's already Sven's number two.

In my opinion, I'd favour Alan Curbishley. He has constantly been one of the best managers at Premier League level for some time and overseen Charlton's development into an established top side, without throwing fortunes at them.

The postponement of the Grays game last Tuesday (February 24) was disappointing, because we were looking to build on the good win against Canvey.

My main concern now is there will be a major fixture pile up at the end of the season, like we had last year.

This could cause us problems with the size of the squad that we have here and the fixture congestion could take its toll.

The unfortunate thing about it is we have free Saturdays but the teams we were due to play are involved in other fixtures.

Looking at our injuries, the only absentees at the moment is Justin Skinner, who is struggling with an ankle and shin injury, and Jay Saunders (back).

Bradley Johnson is suspended for our next game, as well as missing out on playing last Saturday at Cambridge United after being sent off against Canvey Island.

Finally, I would like to thank the fans for the decent turn out we had against Canvey Island, the noise and atmosphere they created was great.

I hope the support carries on right to the end of the season and I look forward to seeing lots of you at our next home fixture against top of the table Accrington Stanley on February 18.
