Maldon 0 v 2 Bromley

Ryman Premier

BROMLEY raised their anchor from the Essex port of Maldon to sail away with all the points, writes Patrick Harris.

The game started evenly with both sides struggling to keep the ball on a sticky and bumpy pitch.

Bromley then enjoyed a spell of dominance with Ellis Remy firing over, Gary Drewett having a shot well saved and then Remy being denied by keeper Darren Gould.

Having kept a clean sheet Maldon had their best spell of the match with Bromley stopper Andy Walker making a good one-on-one save just before the break.

Bromley were positive in the second half and Sam Wood showed his class with a great run which was only cut short on the edge of the box.

The Ravens took the lead on 53 minutes when Barry Gardner whipped in a cross which was turned in by Remy.

Then Remy fired over from a Drewett cross, Wood shot over, Drewett hit the bar and Des Boateng headed just over.

The dominance finally paid off when, on 79 minutes, Wood began another great run beating all in his path and rolling the ball under the keeper into the net for 2-0.

It was a hot contender for goal of the season and showed what fantastic young talent the diminuitive striker has.

Late in the match Walker pulled off a great save but Bromley had done enough to climb to 13th in the table.
