Shepway & District 1 v 3 Dartford & District
Kent Primary League Schools' Under-11s
BRIAN Williams' Dartford and District under-11s kept their 100 per cent Primary League record, writes Brian Page.
The 3-1 victory over Shepway moved them to pole position in the Kent Primary League courtesy of superior goal difference.
Within a few minutes of the start Dartford began to dominate the match with another display of well-executed passing.
Their intentions were clear when Knockhall's Jack Page fired an early warning shot over Shepway's crossbar.
Midway through the half a three-man move, initiated by Page, linked Sweyne's pairing of Josh McGregor and Sam Small leaving the latter to drive into the bottom left corner for a one-goal lead.
Small doubled the score and took his season's goal-tally to nine with a carbon-copy shot on 20 minutes.
With the interval approaching the industrious Page set up Luke Whitehead of Sutton-at-Hone and his 12th strike of the campaign gave Dartford a healthy 3-0 lead.
Despite a second half of one-way traffic, greatly influenced by Wilmington's Matt Holder in midfield, Dartford were unable to build on their first-half lead with Stone's John Attrell, McGregor, Page and Whitehead all being shut out by an excellent performance from Shepway's goalkeeper.
Shepway eventually scored their consolation goal when an indirect free-kick was converted at close range.
Matt Holder was nominated as man-of-the-match with Ryan May being in close contention.
