Beckenham 6 v 2 Milton Athletic
Kent Senior Trophy Quarter-Final
BECKENHAM cruised into the semi-final of The Kent Senior Trophy with an easy win over Milton Athletic.
The visitors went ahead with a Steve Smith header in the first minute but for the rest of the half they hardly touched the ball.
Before the interval Ohran Stewart scored an impressive hat trick but then the Beck's defence were caught out allowing Smith to net his second to set up a good second period.
However, within a minute of the restart Peter Adeniyi ghosted in to slide home Beck's fourth and his effort killed off any hope of a Milton revival.
Beckenham failed to notch a conclusive fifth goal when a long-range Ryan Martin shot was well saved and a Jamie Cheeseman shot hit the post.
But the Kent league's leading scorer Paul Vines showed how it should be done on 75 minutes as he turned his marker to place his shot beyond the diving keeper for his 19th goal of the season.
Number six came when Adeniyi went on a tremendous run beating five defenders.
He was just about to slot home when he was upended in the penalty area. Adeniyi picked himself up and scored the penalty.
In the end it was a surprisingly easy and emphatic victory over a well-organised side which at times found the pace of the home side too much.
Beckenham now face Tunbridge Wells at home in the semi-final. Next week they are away to VCD Athletic in the league.
