Newport IOW 2 v 6 Cray Wanderers
Ryman Division One
CRAY Wanderers inflicted on their hosts their heaviest home defeat of the season as they hammered six past Newport.
Within 14 minutes of the start Cray were two goals to the good thanks to Gary Abbott and Jon Main.
Newport, languishing second off the bottom of the league, pulled a goal back when Ashley Wright scored on 32 minutes but six minutes later David Gray restored the Wands' two-goal advantage with a well-taken finish.
Cray added their fourth just 12 seconds into the second half when Newport's James Dunk slipped and Main scored his 15th goal of the season.
Cray increased their lead in the 64th minute when Newport's Paul Jones turned a cross into his own goal.
Eight minutes from time Fraser Quirke scored for the hosts but Cray substitute Matt Woolf completed the rout three minutes from time.
