FA Vase 2nd Round
Thamesmead Town 0 Brook House 4
THIS was a match where once Ryman Division Two side Brook House had taken the lead, Mead were hardly given a look in.
But Mead did start brightly and could have scored after only seven minutes when Lewis Wood was set free but he managed to fired wide when well-placed.
Brook House showed their intentions when they created a chance for the impressive striker Ryan Kirkland and only a smart save low down from Alan Hughes denied him.
After 16 minutes Kirkland burst down the right and his cross was met by Danny Rouco whose header looped off the unfortunate Loveridge and into the net.
Mead bounced back and had a goal disallowed on 20 minutes when good football between Burns and Thomas saw Woods slot the ball home only to be denied by the linesman's flag.
Curtis Williams and Marc Merriadan did manage to get some joy on the right but each time the Brook House defence dealt with the threat.
Curtis Williams went close after 43 minutes with a right-footed shot but Kirkland was to be the provider of Brook's second when a Mead attack was broken down and a sharp counter attack saw him fire a low cross into the box where Jerome Periera slid the ball home beating Hughes at his near post.
Manager Paul Blades replaced the ineffective Sam Thomas with Aaron Hayretting at half time moving Kieron Collins in to midfield and it nearly paid off when within a minute of the restart a Williams cross was met by Collins whose header hit the bar but with the goalkeeper grounded skipper Pedro Knight blasted the rebound over.
Mead were made to rue the miss as the visitor's skipper Chris Fermie hit the goal of the match only minutes later.
A corner was only cleared to the edge of the box and Fermie had time and space to chip the ball superbly into the far corner.
Brook House then began to play the free flowing football which saw them progress to the last 16 of this competition last season.
Only Alan Hughes' safe hands stopped them increasing their lead until the 79th minute when a seven-man move saw Periera release Kirkland who gave Hughes no chance with a cool finish.
Afterwards Mead director of football Terry Hill said: "You would like to see your players want to perform in the biggest trophy we play for but today too many didn't seem to be able to."
