Dartford 5 v 2 Teynham
Kent Cup
HJF DARTFORD Ladies returned to winning ways with a comfortable 5-2 victory against Teynham Gunners, writes Brian Page.
Dartford, ravaged by injuries and with no regular goalkeeper or substitutes available, had only the bare 11 players for this Kent Cup first round match.
Teynham took an early lead against the run of play but a well-placed direct free-kick from Kel Vickers pulled the Oakfield Lane side level.
Dartford stepped up the pace in the second half with Harriet Hill netting to give them a 2-1 lead and a quick brace from leading scorer Rachel Elson consolidated the lead, before Hill scored again.
With the match all but over, spirited Teynham still pushed forward and grabbed a late consolation goal.
Rachel Elson was named man-of-the-match for her work in midfield.
Dartford, managed by Julie Sutherland and Sally Taylor, entertain Castle Colts in the South East County Women's Football League action on December 4. Kick-off 2pm.
Dartford: Stork; Beaney; Sutherland; Taylor; Benham; Holloway; de Waal; Vickers; Elson; Hill; Bird.
