Cray bounced back from their midweek defeat at Tonbridge Angels to make it four wins from their last five games, after a resounding win at play-off hopefuls Boreham Wood.

Cray were a goal up in the 10th minute when George Porter set up Marcus Cassius for a shot that was tipped over the bar. Ross Lover took the corner-kick and Tommy Tyne headed home.

The lead was doubled on 18 minutes when Porter chased after a back pass to the Boreham Wood goalkeeper, and the ball went into the net when the 'keeper's clearance struck the young Cray striker.

Porter was on target again in the 48th minute, netting his second of the afternoon after receiving a pass from Cassius.

Daniel Braithwaite reduced the arrears for the home side, but it looked comfortable for Cray until some late drama when Boreham Wood put on pressure in the closing minutes.

Jon Clements netted to make it 3-2 in the 90th minute, but Cray spared their supporters any nerves by breaking upfield for Ross Lover to net their fourth, after a great run at goal and an unselfish pass by Porter.

Cray manager Ian Jenkins will know that his team must continue its winning form, to hold its current mid-table place and to avoid sliding downwards when lower-placed teams make up their games in hand.

Jenkins has brought in experienced goalkeeper Tony Kessell (ex-Dartford and Folkestone Invicta) for a second spell with the Wands. Kessell played for Cray in 2003 and made his return to the club at Boreham Wood.

Cray travel to Fisher Athletic on Tuesday night in the London Senior Cup (7.45pm) and are at home to Kingstonian in the Ryman Premier next Saturday (3pm).

Cray: Kessell, Lover, Luckett, Quinn, Willy, Day, Standen (Guest), Tyne, Porter, Cassius (L Wood), J Wood (Carpenter).
